A Note For Photographers Applying To Arrival Gallery

Hi everyone,

My name is Christos Markou, founder of Arrival Gallery.

Before building Arrival, I spent around ten years working as a commercial photographer in London. During that time, I had the chance to work on projects for companies and brands including Adobe Lightroom, Vodafone UK, Michiko Koshino, and many others.

My studio experience also included clients such as Nintendo, Sony, EMI, DJ Magazine, and a range of creative agencies, record labels, fashion brands, magazines, and cultural projects. I also worked across retouching and post-production for brands including New Balance and football clubs such as Athletic Bilbao.

That background shaped the way I look at photography.

I know how much work goes into a strong image. Not just the moment of capture, but the thinking behind it, the editing, the presentation, the sequencing, the confidence to show it, and the difficulty of getting your work in front of the right people.

At Arrival Gallery, we welcome photographers across different styles and approaches — from fine art photography and documentary work to fashion, portraiture, conceptual projects, street photography, digital processes, and experimental image-making.

And because of my own background, I wanted to offer something more personal to photographers who are considering submitting their work to our open calls.

If you are a photographer and you are thinking about joining one of our upcoming exhibitions, you can now book a short call with me directly.

The call is a chance to ask questions about our events, how we present photographic work, what kind of submissions we accept, how digital and physical participation works, and whether Arrival Gallery feels like the right fit for your practice.

It is also a chance for us to understand your work better.

Our exhibitions are built around visibility, presentation, and giving artists a real-world context for their work. We are not interested in making the process feel intimidating or distant. We want artists and photographers to feel informed, supported, and confident before they take part.

So, if you are a photographer looking for a way to show your work internationally, or you have been considering applying but still have questions, I would be happy to speak with you.

Bring your questions. Bring your concerns. Bring your work.

We would love to hear more about what you are creating.
