Reima J.R. – Artist presentation Reima J.R. (Reima Juhani Rannikko) is a visual artist and graphic designer from Turku, Finland. In connection with my works, I use the artist name Reima J.R., which is made up of my full name. I began my art studies at the Turku Art Association School in 1961–1964 and participated in group exhibitions at the Turku Art Hall and Salo at a young age. I later completed my studies at the Turku Art Academy Art School in 1979–1981 under the direction of Vieno Orre and at the Turku Summer University painting courses. Private exhibitions have been organized at the Turku Art Hall in 1972 and 1981 and at the Naantali Art Hall in 1981 and 1982. In 1981 I was invited to participate in the Art Association's St. Petersburg exhibition. In 2015, my works were presented in the Lieto Art Museum's online exhibition of its collections. In the early 1980s, I worked with psychologist Marjatta Pääkkönen in the Southwest Finland Special Care District on a project dealing with the artistic expression of people with intellectual disabilities. I was also involved in organizing the first national joint exhibition of people with intellectual disabilities at the Runosmäki Youth Center in 1982. In addition to visual art, I have worked as a graphic designer and have designed, among other things, the logos of the Southwest Finland and Uusimaa Special Care Districts, the wall relief of the Epitihia Center in 1995, and many posters, etc. I mainly work with oil paints and pastels. My subjects include sapeur culture, life in the favelas, the Inuit, old masters, and contemporary world phenomena. My works are in the collections of the City of Turku, the Southwest Finland Special Care District, and the Lieto Art Museum. My works have also been sold in Stockholm and New York, and I have gained international visibility through online galleries. In 2026, the program includes a solo exhibition in Helsinki, group exhibitions in London, Madrid and New York, and participation in exhibitions by the Turku Artists' Association. I am a member of Arrival Gallery, and in September 2026 I have been selected as the Turku Artists' Association's Finland, Sales Gallery Artist of the Month, where the artists' association will organize an exhibition in September.
